The MZ was DSB's most numerous locomotive, delivered from 1967 to 1978 in 61 copies. For many years it was the workhorse at DSB, but with new IC3 trainsets and the separation of freight traffic, DSB no longer needed them after the turn of the millennium. Railion Danmark, which took over DSB Gods, also took over some MZs. One of these is MZ 1459. After a major overhaul and a lot of rust work, MZ 1459 was painted Verkerhsrot in 2018. The other DB Cargo MZ in solid red paint is MZ 1449.
