MJA The Book: The Accident That Couldn't Happen

Many years ago, I inherited a couple of boxes of railway memorabilia from a high-ranking DSB 
employee. After a cursory glance, the boxes were neatly stored at my parents' home, as our own house 
lacked the space for further storage. When we moved to our current home, I carefully examined the 
boxes in question.

The most interesting item among the materials was a four-centimeter-thick book containing 
confidential information regarding the horrific express train accident on Funen in August 1967. I 
was utterly captivated by the circumstances leading up to an accident that simply should not have 
been able to happen!

Once I had confirmed that none of the parties involved could still be alive today, I spoke to my 
publisher about releasing this comprehensive material.

I decided that the book should be accessible even to those who do not share my passionate interest 
in railways.

Consequently, I explain the report's technical terminology—covering rolling stock, safety 
regulations, signaling systems, and more—in terms that the average reader can easily understand.
