Car set with four intermediate coaches for the gas turbine-powered train series 602 of the Deutsche Bundesbahn.Supplementary set consisting of two compartment coaches, one dining car, and one kitchen car.■ Alternating current versionThe insufficient performance of the diesel-powered VT 11.5 (BR 601) led in 1971 to the conversion of four power cars to gas turbine propulsion. The most distinctive feature then were the large air intakes in front of the cab, which supplied the turbine with air.Due to defects, the operation of these trains became increasingly uneconomical, which is why the trains running under series BR 602 were phased out by the DB in 1978 and 1979. Only the power car 602 003 has been preserved for museum purposes; it can be found today in the DB Museum in Nuremberg.
