Rating for ESU 59816 LokPilot 5 micro DCC/MM/SX, 6-pin NEM651, gauge N, TT
The product is not yet rated

The LokPilot 5 micro is ESU's smallest digital decoder to date. Thanks to the use of subminiature components, 8-layer circuit boards, and state-of-the-art manufacturing technology, it measures just 8.0 mm x 7.0 mm and is only 2.4 mm thick (2.9 mm at the capacitor), making it so small that it can even be used in very small locomotives of Z, N, or TT scales. Despite its compact size, it offers the same functionality and robustness as its larger counterparts.

LokPilot 5 micro decoders are available with all common interfaces. The variants with Next18 or PluX16 interfaces are slightly larger, measuring 13.0 mm x 9.2 mm, but also support the mfx®-compatible M4 protocol.

Operating Modes
The LokPilot 5 micro is a true multi-protocol decoder. It supports the DCC data format as well as Motorola®, Selectrix®, and M4. In the DCC format, 14 to 128 speed steps are standard, as are 2- and 4-digit addresses and up to 32 functions. Thanks to RailComPlus®, the decoders register fully automatically with a compatible digital command station.

It supports all DCC programming modes, and thanks to RailCom®, CV values can be read on the main track with compatible command stations. Auxiliary registers are available for command stations that can only program CVs 1-255.

Motorola® users benefit from up to 28 speed steps with 255 addresses. Three additional Motorola® addresses allow for the triggering of 16 functions. A built-in programming mode also makes reprogramming possible with the venerable Control Unit 6021.

The Next18 and PluX16 variants also allow automatic registration with mfx®-compatible command stations thanks to the M4 protocol. All 32 possible function keys are available.

The LokPilot 5 micro decoder recognizes Märklin® braking sections as well as ZIMO® HLU/ZACK commands and the Lenz® ABC system. Braking with DCC brake modules or DC voltage is also possible. Furthermore, it will stop even when a Selectrix® brake diode is present. An ABC shuttle train function enables automatic shuttling between two stations.

The LokPilot 5 decoder can be used on analog DC layouts. The versions with Next18 or PluX16 can also be used on analog AC layouts. The maximum speed can be set separately.

The decoder switches between operating modes fully automatically "on-the-fly." In most cases, no configuration is necessary.

Functions
We know you want your locomotives to be as realistic as possible. That's why we've equipped the LokPilot 5 micro with a surprisingly large number of function outputs. The versions with 6-pin or 8-pin wiring harnesses offer four amplified function outputs, each with a 180mA output current, as well as two logic-level outputs for servos or SUSI. The versions with Next18 or PluX16 interfaces have a total of six amplified outputs and two logic-level outputs. All essential lighting functions are included. The brightness of each output can be adjusted separately. The decoder supports automatic coupling and uncoupling for ROCO®, Krois®, and Telex® couplers.

Motor Control
The motor control of the LokPilot 5 micro has been significantly improved once again. A variably adjustable PWM clock frequency from 10kHz to 50kHz ensures exceptionally quiet operation, especially with coreless motors – the typical hum is a thing of the past. The load control can now be adapted to even the most challenging situations with up to 10 CVs. The unique "Autotune" function allows the decoder to automatically calibrate itself to the motor. The LokPilot 5 micro decoder delivers up to 0.75A of motor current, providing ample power for its intended applications.

Operational reliability: A PowerPack can be connected to the LokPilot 5 micro to bridge dirty track sections.

Protection: Naturally, the motor output and function outputs are protected against overload. We want you to enjoy your decoder for as long as possible.
