In January 2017, the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) signed a framework agreement with Siemens for a 
total of 200 new Vectron multi-system locomotives. These locomotives are intended for use in more 
than ten countries in Eastern and Southeastern Europe, as well as 
in Germany and Italy.

Under the series designation 1293, 113 locomotives have been delivered to ÖBB in several batches. 85 
Vectron MS locomotives are equipped with the country-specific package for Austria, Germany, Italy, 
Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Croatia, and Slovenia.
