The electric locomotives from the EuroSprinter family from Siemens are known in Germany as the 182 
series. 
With an output of 6,400 kW, they reach a top speed of 230 km/h.
From 2009, there was a shortage of high-speed locomotives for EuroCity traffic at DB Fernverkehr. 
The solution was to rent an ES 64 U2 (BR 182) from MRCE. 
Since the timetable change in 2010, the EuroCity pair 6/7 has been pulled by one of these locomotives.
