In the 1960s, the Class E 03 was built as the most powerful electric locomotive for passenger train 
traffic by the German Federal Railways. From 1970 to 1974, a total of 145 series locomotives were 
built and officially designated as Class 103.1. Due to their 
special shape and enormous performance, the 103s quickly became the DB's showcase.
Only two examples of the Class 103 are preserved in working order at the DB Museum in Koblenz. 103 
113 in the condition with a red frame that it was the first of its kind to receive in 1977. This 
machine will be used on selected tours in front of AKE-Rheingold.
