The Class 101 is an electric high-speed locomotive from Deutsche Bahn. It reaches a maximum speed of 
220 km/h and has a continuous output of 6,400 kW. The locomotive is used to haul IC/EC trains. 
By the end of 1999, 145 of these locomotives, ordered to replace the Class 103, were in service.
