In the early 1990s, there was a shortage of suitable locomotives due to the increase in passenger 
cars with electric train heating. Due to positive results from the retrofitting of class 753 
locomotives, the ČSD decided to retrofit all diesel locomotives used in passenger traffic with 
electric train heating. "Diving goggles" of this type were also in use in Slovakia after the 
division of the country. To distinguish them from the original version, they were given the class 
designation 750, while the serial number was 
retained.
