The unit's class 64 passenger train tender locomotives were developed by the German State Railways 
(DRG) from 1926 onwards. On July 1, 1950, exactly 129 locomotives were listed in the DR's 
maintenance 
fleet.

64 1455 was transferred from the Jerichow depot to the Salzwedel depot in 1972. There it was used in 
front of special trains for the farewell trips 24 009 and 37 1009, which both locomotives hauled 
together.
