The electric locomotives of the Siemens EuroSprinter family are designated as Class 182 in Germany. 
With a power output of 6,400 kW, they reach a top speed of 230 km/h.

From 2009, DB Fernverkehr experienced a shortage of high-speed locomotives for EuroCity services. 
This was remedied by leasing ES 64 U2 (Class 182) locomotives from MRCE. Since the timetable change 
in 2010, the EuroCity pair 6/7 has been hauled by one of these locomotives.
