Set 1 with two passenger cars and a baggage car from the Austrian Federal Railways.

Consisting of two 2nd class domestic passenger cars, class Bmpz and a baggage car, class Ds.

■ Version as D 704 from Vienna Westbf – Bischofshofen
■ Operating condition around 1992/93

With the timetable change in June 1991, the Austrian Federal Railways introduced the "New Austro
Takt 91". This was the first phase of the expansion to an Austrian coordinated public transport
network. This was the most extensive timetable change since the ÖBB was founded, including a
noticeable quantitative increase in the number of trains on many routes.
The D 704/705 was an express train from Vienna Westbahnhof via Amstetten and Selzthal to
Bischofshofen, which only ran on certain days (weekends, public holidays, ...) and was introduced
with the "NAT 91". Not on the usual route via Salzburg, however - but via Gesäuse and the Enns
Valley. Although this route is shorter in terms of kilometres, it did not provide a better journey
time due to the poorer construction standard and the higher number of stops. In "NAT91" the train
had to take 5 hours and 8 minutes for the entire route. With the direct IC trains via Salzburg,
which run every two hours, you were already in Bischofshofen after 4 hours and 11 minutes. However,
the train was also used less for the direct connection from Vienna to Bischofshofen, but above all
to connect the tourist destinations in the Enns Valley. This train shone with its selection of
carriages and towing vehicles. What was used was what was available at the time and which was not
missing for a day.
