The "Arlberg Express" was one of the trains whose introduction dates back to the era of
transcontinental luxury trains. Unlike its siblings, the Orient and Ostend
Express, it ran through the whole of Austria in a west-east direction.
Over time, the train became more and more of an international train with through cars. In addition
to the Vienna-Paris train, the train ran several through cars, for example to the Salzkammergut
region and from there to Salzburg, where these were then removed from the train. There were also
stagecoaches from Vienna to Carinthia and East Tyrol, which were transported from Schwarzach-St.
Veit on the Tauernpass railway.
Depending on the composition, the available sets can be used to reproduce the train for the various
lines Vienna – Salzburg – Schwarzach St. Veit – Innsbruck – Buchs.
