Finally, a modern replacement for the very popular and previously widely used BR 78 is coming in the 
form of a new design from PIKO - and thus the first steam locomotive in the Expert product line. The 
model raises the established standard for the Expert series a little higher. Almost all lines were 
made freestanding, the driver's cabin, water boxes and smoke box are decorated with the finest 
reproductions of the rivet heads. The wheelset stars and steering system could be made extremely 
filigree due to the materials used. The five-pole PIKO motor with flywheel mass provides excellent 
driving characteristics. Additional weights in the boiler and two traction tires ensure high 
traction. A PIKO SmartDecoder 4.1 with mfx capability is installed ex works. A loudspeaker and a 
smoke set can also be retrofitted with minimal effort. The direction-dependent lighting in LED 
design provides an authentic operating atmosphere. Brake hoses for retrofitting are included.
