100 years of FD trains
"Biron fold" or quite prosaic E 10.3: There is hardly a German locomotive type that has shaped the
Bundesbahn's heyday from the 1960s onwards like the elegant and wind-cutting machines of the E 10
class. Their impressive success story began in the 1950s, when the young Deutsche Bahn promoted
electrification and ordered an efficient and fast electric locomotive in large numbers with the
E 10. The first series (E 10.0 and E 10.1) still had a profane, angular locomotive box, in 1962 the
first was published with an "aerodynamic" front. The striking design with the "wrinkle" in the
middle of the variant, which was included as E 10.3, soon earned the name "Bügelfalte". For decades,
the E 10 was the workhorse of the DB's high quality, and the "fold" was certainly one of the stars
on German rails. From 1990, the E 10 moved to regional transport and performed their services
reliably there. The last "folds" did not leave DB service until 2013 with many millions of
kilometers.

Prototype: Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) electric locomotive 110 318-3. Nicknamed "Bügelfalte". Cobalt
blue basic coloring. Version with double lamps, plastic rain gutters over the front windows and
cabs, "penetrating" fan tape made of 7 "catch fan grilles long" and front handle. Without apron and
without buffer cover of condition around 1983. Application: Freight and passenger trains with local
and long-distance transport.

Model: New design. Housing and chassis made of die-cast zinc. Built-in digital decoder and noise
generator for operation with mfx and DCC. Motor with balance mass, 4-axis driven, adhesive tires.
Front lighting and detail lighting change with direction of travel, with warm white LEDs, cab
lighting, digitally switchable. Kinematics for short coupling. Adjustment of handle bars. Length
over buffer 103 mm.
