Märklin 37087 Tender steam locomotive BR 86.0-8Steam locomotive class 86
Tender steam locomotive Saxony
It was the time of the golden twenties when the Deutsche Reichsbahn, which was founded in 1920,
caused the great leap forward, especially in vehicle technology. The new series 86, a 70-ton and
1000 hp construction with four driving axles and unidirectional track axles each, was particularly
successful. With a maximum speed of 70 or they can also be used for 80 km/h and a high passenger and
local freight transport on main lines. In 1943, 774 units of the class 86 were delivered to the
Reichsbahn. After the end of the war, the Reichsbahn of the GDR had 164 operational class 86
locomotives, which were mainly based in Saxony. On the sometimes difficult routes in the local low
mountain range, they were able to impressively demonstrate their capabilities.
