Märklin 39913 American Class 3900 "Challenger" steam locomotive

One-time series.

Prototype: Heavy American Class 3900 "Challenger" steam locomotive, in the oil-fired tender version 
operated by the Union Pacific Railroad (UP). Modeled in the condition of the museum locomotive at 
Cody Park in North Platte, Nebraska (road number 3977). Eras III and VI.

Model: Equipped with an mfx+ digital decoder and extensive light and sound functions. Various 
operating sounds—such as oil and water replenishment or the opening and closing of cab sliding 
windows and vents—can be controlled digitally. Regulated high-performance drive with a flywheel in 
the boiler. Powered on 6 axles. Traction tires. Articulated chassis for negotiating curves. Boxpok 
wheels. Headlights on the locomotive and tender; the headlight signal operates in conventional mode 
and can be controlled digitally. Cab lighting and illuminated number boards/marker lights can be 
switched digitally. Lighting via maintenance-free warm-white LEDs. Buffer capacitor installed. 
Speed-dependent dynamic smoke output installed as standard and digitally switchable. Powerful 
speaker in the tender. Plug-in coupler dummy included for the pilot beam's standard pocket. Close 
coupling with kinematics between the locomotive and tender. Steam lines on the front drive unit 
pivot with the cylinders. Metal grab irons. Many additional details. Engineer and fireman figures 
included in the cab. Locomotive screwed to a display base for transit protection. Length over 
buffers: 42.5 cm.
