The module not only allows the train to stop in front of the signal, but also offers the option of installing a slow-moving section: The route in front of the signal is divided into a running section and a braking section. The length of the running section must be dimensioned so that the longest train running there fits completely. The length of the braking section depends on the set braking deceleration or the set braking distance.

The running and braking sections are supplied by the corresponding outputs of the BM2. In order for trains being pushed to also be affected, the front carriage of the pushed train must be equipped with a power consumer (e.g. lighting on the carriage). This provides the control carriage with headlights and taillights that change with the direction of travel. The BM2 ensures that no braking is triggered when the section is driven in the opposite direction.
