Fleischmann 881913 2-part Set 1: car transport wagon set, DB AG, ep IV

The set consists of two "Christophorus" auto transport cars from the Deutsche Bundesbahn.
- The set includes two type DDm auto transport cars in ocean blue color.From 1969, the Deutsche Bundesbahn established D1410/1411 as a fast daily connection between Düsseldorf/Köln and Munich. For the first time, DB attempted to attract standard and business travelers to the railways year-round with rates that were especially favorable compared to the price of tourist tickets. The travel time was less than seven hours. In order to enable the train to reach speeds of up to 160 km/h, 20 DDM 915 cars were equipped with magnetic rail brakes. From 1971, the electric locomotive series 103 was used as the traction power, but other series, such as BR 111, were also used as near traffic units.
The "Christoforus-Express" originally ran six times a week, and then daily from the summer of 1970. The D 1484/1485 "Auto-Traum-Express" from Hamburg-Altona to Munich East was introduced as an overnight connection and expanded with this offer. These trains became the mainstay of motorrail train traffic in the 1970s.
