The LokSound 5 micro is a "little wonder": With a footprint of just 21mm x 10mm, it's one of the smallest LokSound decoders we've ever built. This makes it suitable for use in all N and TT scale vehicles, as well as small H0 models. LokSound 5 micro decoders always feature a Next18 interface and are supplied with adapter plugs for all common interfaces. An 11x15mm "sugar cube" speaker, along with a sound capsule kit, is also always included.

Operating Modes
The LokSound 5 micro is a true multi-protocol decoder. It supports the DCC data format as well as Motorola®, Selectrix®, and M4. In DCC format, 14 to 128 speed steps are standard, as are 2- and 4-digit addresses and up to 32 functions. Thanks to RailComPlus®, the decoders register fully automatically with a compatible digital command station.

It supports all DCC programming modes, and thanks to RailCom®, CV values ​​can be read on the main track using compatible control units. Auxiliary registers are available for control units that can only program CVs 1-255.

Motorola® users benefit from up to 28 speed steps with 255 addresses. Three additional Motorola® addresses allow for the triggering of 16 functions. A built-in programming mode even enables reprogramming with the venerable Control Unit 6021.

The M4 protocol allows automatic registration with mfx®-compatible control units.

The LokSound 5 micro decoder recognizes Märklin® braking sections as well as ZIMO® HLU braking commands and the Lenz® ABC system. Braking with DCC brake modules or DC voltage is also possible. Furthermore, it will stop at a Selectrix® braking diode. An ABC shuttle train function enables automatic shuttling between two stations.

The LokSound 5 micro decoder can be used on analog DC and AC layouts.

Sound
The LokSound 5 micro decoder can play back up to 10 channels simultaneously. Each channel can be resolved at up to 16 bits / 31250 kHz, finally bringing HiFi quality to your layout. The difference from the original sound is virtually inaudible. A Class-D audio amplifier with up to 3W output power drives the speakers, which can have an impedance between 4 ohms and 32 ohms. The massive 128 Mbit sound memory provides ample capacity.

All individual sounds can be adjusted in volume. The highly flexible sound engine, without a rigid sequence, allows for prototypical simulation of all conceivable rail vehicles. Three separately adjustable braking functions and two alternative load scenarios give you maximum control over your locomotives.

Functions
Despite its small size, the LokSound 5 micro has at least six amplified function outputs and one logic-level output. The Next18 interface features two additional logic-level outputs that can alternatively control RC servos. All essential lighting functions are included. The brightness of each output can be adjusted separately. The decoder supports automatic coupling and uncoupling for ROCO®, Krois®, and Telex® couplers.

Motor Control
The motor control of the LokSound 5 has been significantly improved once again. A variably adjustable PWM clock frequency from 10 kHz to 50 kHz ensures exceptionally quiet operation, especially with coreless motors – the typical hum is a thing of the past. The load control can now be adapted to even the most challenging situations with up to 10 CVs. The unique "Autotune" function allows the decoder to automatically calibrate itself to the motor. With a motor current of up to 0.75 A, the LokSound 5 decoder provides ample power for all intended operating scenarios.
